Just wanted to let you know how well I am doing. Today is 21 days for me. I feel great and full of energy. Drinking seems to be a non-issue. I found the Naltrexone was making me sick to my stomach so I take the Campral only and it seems to be working. I have a much happier outlook, too.

I cannot thank you enough for helping me to get down there and be comfortable while going through treatment. You really went out of your way. I feel like I have the head start I have needed all these years to move forward in my life without alcohol.

I so respect what you are doing there and I am spreading the word to others I know who suffer the same way I did.

I have to tell you how fortunate I feel to have found your center for Madison. From my first conversation with you on that Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago, you and your staff have been so supportive and helpful. Being so far away from Madison is very difficult, but it is wonderful to know that she is working with such genuinely caring, attentive and knowledgeable people. She is enjoying the sessions and is optimistic that she now has the tools to be successful. She tried and did stop smoking a few times in the past, but there was an obvious and increasing need for her to not only stop smoking, but to "work on" herself. This program has been a good experience for Madison. When my husband and I were in Georgia we attended the Wednesday evening family session with Brian. It was so helpful to us. I only wish we were there to attend with her each week.

The educational aspect of your program is powerful for an addict to understand.

From the day I arrived, I've been treated with dignity and respect. You've made me feel that I deserve to have a good life; that I'm not defective or powerless. You offered me real recovery that has put me in charge of my life. How wonderful to feel the control I thought I had lost. You have helped me to see my strengths and the good that came from the hell I survived.

I made a decision to call Breakthrough. I've been to hell and you are absolutely right about it being real.

We don't have to be abused by a system that doesn't understand. I made the choice to take advantage of Breakthrough Addiction Recovery and the program they have to offer. They really and truly understand and will give you TLC along with the resources you need to find your way back to the life you've been missing. You are not alone. I sought help from clergy, AA, doctors, and family, but nothing seemed to help me. I didn't need any of them to get sober. I did it by going through you program and learning the skills to maintain my sobriety and deal with the issues in my life.

I can only hope that others that are suffering the bonds of addiction seek the same help I did and go through the program. I am a walking testimony to Breakthrough Addiction Recovery!

I haven't touched a drop since returning to New York, and I love the fact that I haven't had a hard time at all doing that.

You all were monumental in assisting in my rebirth as a sober member of society, and I thank you all for that. In this day and age, common sense would dictate that you would use the latest medical or scientific discovery to cure a problem or disease. Yet every other program I looked into told me to follow a 12 step program and go to more AA meetings. Why don't they recommend medical solutions and the latest treatment therapies? Thank you for using a 21st Century approach that works.

You all were monumental in assisting in my rebirth as a sober member of society, and I thank you all for that. In this day and age, common sense would dictate that you would use the latest medical or scientific discovery to cure a problem or disease. Yet every other program I looked into told me to follow a 12 step program and go to more AA meetings. Wasn't that from the 30's or something? Most addiction treatments seem to still use blood letting and leeches. Thank you for using a 21st Century approach that works!

I never realized how different Breakthrough Addiction Recovery was until I ran into a friend who went to another program in town.

He was upset that he relapsed for the third time, and that the only advice his counselor told him was to go to more meetings. He has been going to meetings for 3 years! I'm so glad I decided to use the medical approach to recovery. I don't consider myself an "addict" anymore. I'm just someone who USED to use.

When I was a little girl, I had all these goals.

I was going to graduate college. I was going to be a veterinarian. I was going to get married and have a boy named Sam and a girl named Olivia. We were all going to have a place in the country to ride our ponies.

Instead, I dropped out of college, couldn't keep a normal relationship, couldn't even keep a job pouring coffee at a book store. I was convinced it was everyone else's fault, and that it had nothing to do with my drinking.

My mom found this web site after hearing about your program on the radio. I agreed to go, and it has been the first time in years I feel good about myself. I graduate from college next month!

I found this group a year ago when my husband was in a traditional treatment program at one of America's best hospitals.

As my husband continued the 90 meetings in 90 days "treatment," his anxiety disorder went undiagnosed. Two months later, he was in worse shape than he had ever been. By December, I had almost given up all hope. On a cold day in January, a miracle occurred. We flew to Georgia and he entered the Breakthrough Addiction Recovery program. There, he got meds for his anxiety and a life-affirming way to live from the counselors. He has been sober for seven months now. Are we home free? No, there is always the possibility of relapse, but I think his chances are a lot better than they were before.

I was drunk when my son graduated from law school.

I was drunk when my daughter got married.

I was drunk for my first grandson's christening.

The only way I can even remember those events is from the photo album my daughter keeps.

Life was speeding past me and I was too busy sitting in a fog to notice. I was hurting the people I loved the most and I was too busy drinking to notice.

My experience with Naltrexone has been nothing short of a miracle.

I am so very thankful for this drug and for those at Breakthrough Addiction Recovery who have helped me begin my new sober life. For the past 16 years I have struggled with alcoholism. Having tried everything without long term success, I was at wits end. No matter how hard I tried to quit drinking, there was always a constant need for alcohol. Some might call it a craving, but for me it was more like a need. A constant, never-ending voice in my head. No matter what was going on, no matter how happy I was, there was always this part of my brain demanding alcohol. Naltrexone has taken this voice away! For the first time for as long as I can remember, there is silence -no more need for alcohol. This drug is such an important tool for any alcoholic.

I wanted to drop you a short note to let you know how things are going. It has been just shy of 8 months since I visited Breakthrough. My life has never been better.

I continue to take Naltrexone every single day and I haven't had a drink in almost 8 months.

This is (by far) the longest that I have been sober in over 15 years. I no longer obsess about when I am going to drink, hiding alcohol, covering up my drunken mistakes and getting caught. This is a very freeing experience and I live my life with a new found integrity.

As you know, I attempted a traditional "rehab" many years ago with very little sober success. While searching through my car during my third DUI, the police found a bottle of oxycontin.

I was in such a bad place at that time I wasn't even concerned about the legal ramifications. I was more worried about how I was going to get my hands on some more pills that afternoon.

Well, to make a long story short, my attorney told me I had better get myself into a program before going to court. I had been to another one in town, and it obviously didn't do me any good. So, I signed up to Breakthrough Addiction Recovery, and thought I could fake my way through another 28 days and look like a model citizen in front of the judge. Instead, you guys actually got me the help I needed in spite of myself. I ACTUALLY got clean. 3 years later, I'm still clean and not because of a court order! Thank you for my life back.

We both drank entirely too much, and we knew something had to change.

When he didn't have anything to drink, my fiancé would pace around our apartment like a caged tiger in a zoo.

He could come with reasons for an argument and storm out to the bar.

I gave him an ultimatum: quit drinking or quit me. He asked me to find something that wasn't local. And he didn't want anything religious or AA based. At that point I think he was just being contrary, because I thought that's all that's out there.

After I showed him your website, he agreed to "give it a try." Well, when he came back, he was happier, calmer, and much more relaxed. Things have never been better between us. Of course we still argue now and then, but we can laugh about it afterwards.

Dad has been back home now for almost a year. Wow, what a difference. He has struggled with booze as long as I can remember. He has been in and out of AA for years, only to relapse over and over. Three months sober, another year drunk, four months sober, you know the pattern.
